Q: How do I know if I have a battery that is included in the recall?
A: Remove the battery from the monitor and check the code.  The batteries that are included in the recall have the following codes: S/N: JNN-S150A, S/N: JNN-S150B, S/N: JNN-S150C, S/N: JNS150-BA, S/N: JNS150-BB, S/N:JNS150-BC and S/N:JNS150A.

In the meantime, consumers may plug in the AC adaptor and power cord to continue to safely operate their video monitor system while waiting for their battery replacement.
 
Q: If I have determined that I have a battery that is included in the recall, what should I do?
A: Remove the battery from your handheld device, and contact Summer Infant via the recall hotline at 1 (800) 426-8627 or by filling out a form on www.summerinfant.com/batteryrecall for a free replacement battery, and to request a postage paid envelope from us to return the old battery.

In the meantime, you may plug in the AC adaptor and power cord to continue to safely operate your video monitor system while waiting for your battery replacement.

Q: What is my model number?
A: The model number is located on a sticker on the back of the handheld unit. This number should begin with a 0, 2 or 3. A list of model numbers affected by the battery recall can be found here.

Q: What is my full battery date code?
A: The date code is located on the battery itself. A list of battery date codes affected by the battery recall can be found here.
 
Q: Are any of these still on retailer shelves?
A: The recalled batteries should not be on retailer shelves.
 
Q: Does this affect video monitors only?
A: Yes. This does not affect our audio monitors; the Summer audio monitors have a different type of battery.  This only affects video monitors with batteries manufactured in 2010, 2011, & 2012.
 
Q: Do all of your video monitors have this type of battery?
A: No, some of our monitors have NIMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries.
 
Q: Is the product unsafe?
A:  Consumers can safely continue to use their monitors with confidence, upon removal of the recalled battery. Consumers can also order a replacement battery from www.summerinfant.com/batteryrecall or by calling 1 (800) 426-8627. You may plug in the AC adaptor and power cord to continue to safely operate your video monitor system while waiting for your battery replacement.
 
Q: Is this the same problem as the 2011 recall?
A: No. The previous recall was also related to the battery, however this recall involves a different battery issue.
 
Q: Are the replacement batteries from the 2011 recall included in this expanded recall?
A:  Consumers who received a replacement battery as part of the original recall in 2011 should request a replacement if they have the any of the following codes on the monitor battery:  S/N: JNN-S150A, S/N: JNN-S150B, S/N: JNN-S150C, S/N: JNS150-BA, S/N: JNS150-BB, S/N:JNS150-BC and S/N:JNS150A.
 
Q: What is the wait time for receiving my new battery?
A:  Replacement batteries are due to arrive at Summer Infant by July 11, 2014. Once they have been received you should receive your replacement battery within 7 to 10 business days.
