Making Room for Baby #2
By Allison Katz

Preparing and decorating our first baby’s room was a task within itself, but it was a super fun one. From picking out the furniture, to the bedding, to hanging the hand painted letters, it was such a special time for both my husband and me. And while preparing and decorating for baby #2 is certainly exciting... Read more.

Can Baby be Too Young for Halloween?

How old was your baby when you took them Trick-or-Treating for the first time? D was only 8 months old. Some might say that’s a little too young, but I really feel it all depends on the situation. At 8 months old... Read more.

Brusha, Brusha, Brusha…The Joys of Toddler Teeth Brushing
By Allison Katz

When did you start brushing your baby’s teeth? I started brushing D’s teeth as soon as that first one popped through, but not with an actual toothbrush, with a Fingerbrush meant for infants. However, this post isn’t to talk about how easy it was to lightly brush the inside of my baby’s mouth, it’s to talk about some of the struggles...

Torn between celebrating Hanukkah and Christmas
by Allison Katz

Well not really. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday so there was no question about whether or not we’d celebrate that, but do we celebrate Hanukkah too? My husband grew up celebrating Hanukkah and I grew up celebrating Christmas, so even though neither of us are super religious we of course wanted our child to celebrate the same rituals we did growing up.

Becoming a New Mom

Yes, becoming a mom was by far the best experience of my life, but it was also the scariest.  I love my little guy more than I can possibly express through words but those first couple months were very hard for me.  Most of the stories my friends and family shared with me were heartwarming, yet only a few tried to tell me what it was REALLY going to be like.

Planes, Trains, Automobiles…and Space Shuttles?

Children all over the world are fascinated with travel. My nearly two year old son, Lil’ E, is mesmerized right now with cars and trains. When I Found Out I Was a Dad
by Eric Guérin

“Are you happy?” my friend’s two year old little boy was currently climbing all over me while I read Dr. Seuss' The Lorax to him at six o’clock in the morning. “Are you happy?” was a simple question to him, but one that my mind was currently unable to process with a million other questions flying through my head at the time. The Basics of Cloth Diapering
by Eric Guérin

I’ll admit up front that I was scared of cloth diapering; it was my wife’s idea. Beware the Coffee Table: Tentative First Steps

As a two year old, I was running through the house and fell face first on the coffee table. I knocked out my two front teeth and forced my mother into early labor for my sister. Why Daddy Knows Best?
by Eric Guerin

The whole idea behind the name Daddy Knows Best was sort of a tongue-in-cheek reference to the 1950’s television show “Father Knows Best” but the truth is unlike Jim Anderson from the TV show, I don’t have all the answers…as any “real” Dad knows, none of us do.
