Can my child wear a snowsuit or winter coat when riding in the Prodigy Infant Car Seat?
Children should NOT wear bulky clothing while restrained in the car seat. The clothing or blankets can interfere with fastening or tightening the harness. Instead, place a blanket over the child AFTER they have been properly secured in the car seat with the harness.

How tight does the car seat harness need to be?
The car seat harness straps should fit snug on the child. A snug harness should not allow any slack. If the harness is loose the child’s body will shift abruptly in the event of a sudden stop or crash, which can cause severe injuries. The harness should be straight and untwisted without sagging. The harness should not be too tight where it rubs against the child’s skin or push the child’s body in an uncomfortable or unnatural way.

You should test for tightness by pinching the webbing at both shoulders. If you can pinch any webbing, you need to pull the harness tighter. This is called the “Pinch Test.”
