The whole idea behind the name Daddy Knows Best was sort of a tongue-in-cheek reference to the 1950’s television show “Father Knows Best” but the truth is unlike Jim Anderson from the TV show, I don’t have all the answers…as any “real” Dad knows, none of us do. The truth is I’m a just a regular Dad, I have faults and make mistakes just like anyone else but becoming a Dad was one of the best things I have ever done.

As a Dad I noticed there are a ton of Mommy blogs but there isn’t a whole lot catering to Dads. I mean no disrespect to the Moms out there – the Mommy blogger community is truly a wonderful thing and as a devoted husband I am truly in awe of all that my wife does. But Dads have our own unique perspective as a parent and this blog was created to be sort of a “man-cave” for Dads…a place to have an open discussion on topics relating to being a Dad in today’s world…not the world of Jim Anderson on Father Knows Best where everything gets wrapped up in 30 minutes with a moral to the story. This blog is a place where you can be a Dad but also just a “regular guy” and we’ll be talking about stuff guys like to talk about. So one post may be covering some of my favorite books I like to read to Lil’ E before bedtime but the next time it could be taking a look at some cool new tech gadgets. There will also be some “Guest Dads” on occasion to share their own unique perspectives and bring their own expertise to the blog.

While I wouldn’t refer to myself as an expert at anything, I am a story-teller and I will bring a unique perspective to this blog. So sit back, relax and grab a cold pint of your favorite microbrew as there will be some cool stuff to come here.
