Hi there - my name is Allison Katz and I’m the Marketing Communications Manager here at Summer Infant. I am a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and most recently mom to an adorable little boy we call Murph, Booger, and Scooter among many other names. You’ll hear me refer to him mostly as D in my posts.
I am excited to share my thoughts, feelings and stories about being a new mom with you all, and of course hear what you have to say. You will come to realize that I am a very open and honest person. I love spending time with family and friends. They are everything to me! You’ll notice my posts will have a lot, if not everything to do with my personal life experiences, as a wife, a mom, a full time working professional and as someone who’s trying to “do it all” as they say. Becoming a mom has taught me to try and live more in the moment, take it day by day and to appreciate the good that happens and not to focus on the bad. It’s harder than it sounds, but I’m getting there.
How do you like to take a "time out?"
I have to say I’m pretty good at this. I try to at least once every other week do something for myself. Whether it be grocery shopping by myself, a cocktail after work with my girlfriends, a facial, a pedicure or simply sitting on the porch by myself with a glass of wine, these are just a few of my special “mommy time outs.
What three words come to mind when you think of your family?
Happiness, Laughter and Love
What blogs/websites do you read every day?
I’m not just saying this, but I truthfully visit summerinfant.com every day and am a total googleholic
If there was an "adult beverage" created for you what would it be called?
Summertime – it would be a mixture of my two favorite beverages, beer and red wine (although it would taste live heaven)
What piece of sound advice would you like to give to moms and dads out there?
You can try to do it all, but know that it’s ok if you can’t. Just do your best to be the mom/dad that your child deserves. They are these little people that truthfully cannot survive without you. They depend on you to feed them, bathe them, clothe them, teach them and most importantly love them.
What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you?
Funny or embarrassing? This is a tough one. I once ran, not walked, but ran through a screen door in front of about 30 friends. It was funny to them, but embarrassing for me.
What is your favorite joke?
I’m really really bad at remembering jokes, but I tend to like lawyer ones Q: Why won’t sharks attack lawyers? A: Professional courtesy
